Tongue Tie
Lip Tie

The frenum is a small band of tissue that attaches our tongue to the floor of our mouth. Everyone has one, but for some it's too short or too tight! When this occurs it limits our tongue mobility and and prevents it from resting in the correct position (sealed up to the roof of our mouth)

Symptoms of a tongue tie can include:

Infants  - difficulty with feeding, painful latch, reflux, gassy, digestive issues, frequent ear infections, poor weight gain, and mouth breathing

Children - noisy/messy eating, delayed speech, gagging or choking with food, ear infections, teeth grinding/snoring/pauses in breath while sleeping, poor dental health, texture issues, mouth breathing

Adults - headaches/migraines, vertigo, jaw pain, snoring/sleep apnea, orthodontic needs/relapse, reflux, digestive issues, narrow jaws, mouth breathing, mumbled speech, neck and shoulder pain

When a tongue or lip tie needs to be released (frenectomy), Myofunctional therapy is crucial to healing and to correct the posture of the mouth!
